Perennial Land Project Response - Emmanuel Orellana Monsalve

TANIA BRUGUERA
Q1: "The people in the Immigrant Movement are using art to empower themselves and to change as people and to change as human beings."

R1:  This statement really pushed forward and showed me how many any group of people use their way of art to either express themselves or show or change as a person.

Q2: "I always felt like it was too easy to look at the news of something happening, somewhere else and just sit and change the channel. And I wanted people to understand when you have the police coming with a horse towards you and telling you, "Go There, go there," how that feels."

R2: When watching this video and the explanation about the performance being done. I like how they force outsiders/people in the store experience some sort repression in person instead like Bruguera said looking at a TV and watching it happen.

Royal Academy
Q1: "I think its also dangerous for participants, I mean how far they will go. What is their level of kindness?"

R1: This line really made me question and wonder when there is performance piece happening that has items or objects that would be counted as dangerous ex: a gun or an axe. How long would it go till someone would either take the gun for the protection of some crazy person being horrible with it or someone really doing something bad there.

Perspective/Legacy
Q1: "and what happened if a performer die, if the work can be re-performed, cane be continued."

R1: When thinking about this, there probably have been a performance that haven't been able to re-perform due to either the main performer either not sending the instructions or people not be being able to do it.

Perennial Land Project Response:

Due to having kidney stones I had to leave early.

The artist I chose for my research was Francis Alÿs.

The piece/video performance I chose was the one where he tried to enter the center of a tornado.
If I were to recreate a piece that he made that would try to provoke questions from the viewers of these pieces. I would try to see I can expand on the idea of being really near a tornado and trying to escape it. Of course being in a car and being safe. An example of what I can try to do is like those people that chase tornados.

Example below:
