(Paper)
Crumble up your paper
Then tear it up to multiple pieces
And throw it out
(You'll do as you're told)
Just listen to what I say
No questions or disagreements
Do whatever it is I say
(Vocal expressions)
Get up from your seat
Open up a window
Scream out what you hate the most
Evaluation Report | Primitive Games | Guggenheim Museum:
Quote: “What might happen when four seemingly divided groups are invited to debate one another without using words?”
Response: This is an interesting scenario because it can be seen as near impossible for seemingly divided groups to interact with one another without using any words. However, performing and body language can be just as informative as simply speaking.
Quote: Leonardo argued his belief that “…to dislodge people from their entrenched positions it may be necessary to remove words."
Response: Removing words may actually provide more raw and natural reactions.
Quote: "The fact that the visual appearance of the performance elicited more comments than bigger questions and comments indicating they understood the meaning behind the performance implies that the audience was more focused on the visual effects of the performance and less on the meaning behind it."
Response: I think it is human nature to be more drawn to the visuals of something than the meaning behind it. If whatever it is you are seeing is colorful and entertaining enough, then you will just focus on that and not the story behind it.
Quote: "The overall staff data suggests that the unique division of responsibilities and shifting/expanding roles that are part of Social Practice Art led to changes in how staff worked with and alongside each other."
Response: I think the uniqueness of the project is what gave the staff a more open mind on how to approach their work. It even affected the way they would work alongside each other.
Primitive Games is a performance that dives into both conflict and negotiation throughout a game where contestants have to form alliances and discuss different viewpoints.
