Evaluation Report | Primitive Games | Guggenheim Museum

Q1: "Each group of participants, following the completion of their second workshop, were requested to complete a reflection about their time spent to date in the workshops."

R1: This quote really shows how when working in these workshops getting the feedback from the participants can really help how the performance really helps with people talking about and learning about view points.

Q2: "Data from participants from each of the four group affiliations in Primitive Games showed a shift in their views after the workshops and performance (see Fig. 1). Data suggests that the experience of Primitive Games for participants most influenced their views on their own and others’ communication through body language; how the sides in the debate about gun violence are more connected than opposed; and that the country is less polarized than they originally thought."

R2: This quote shows to me that no matter what you are doing art wise whether it would be performative or artistic, there will always be a way to express your emotions.

Q3: "Staff took advantage of the long line to enter the reception and handed out/collected response cards for audience members to complete as they waited. Responses were tabulated and coded."

R3: This quote shows how in also using the audience members responses on what they say could also see how they felt and viewed the performance over all.

Q4 "This data suggests that Guggenheim staff are insightful about audience response and often reflective about the meaning behind performances."

R4: This quote reflets and tell us how the viewers first comments and thoughts are about the performance and helps the organizers think how the human mind works while watching something.

PRIMITIVE GAMES POST

The Primitive Games is a performance that explores both conflict and negotiation through a thought-out game where participants have to build up alliances and talk about opposing viewpoints. This artwork works as live social experiment with instructions that would guide the players in the performance to from strategies and interact with others. There are evaluation reports that gets results from both participants and observers, which talk about cooperation were difficult and how some groups dynamics influenced others. Personally, if I were to be a participant. I would try to make some small talk and see if I can see what points I would agree with. I would also feel scared but open to talking to others, however be open to see other peoples views.
